Joseph Greis Obituary

Joseph Todd Greis, 50, went to his heavenly home with his family by side at 4:46pm Wednesday, August 28th 2019 after a long battle with cancer. Joseph was born in Staten Island, New York, to Wally and Sharon Greis. He moved to Peru, Indiana when he was 5 years old.

Joseph worked at GDX in Wabash for 18 years before they closed their doors. He loved his job and all of his coworkers, with whom he would frequently share stories. During his High School career at Maconaquah Joe discovered his passion for wrestling, he would go on to win several awards and medals during his wrestling career at the school and spoke fondly of the experience and memories for the rest of his life. As an adult, Joe enjoyed fishing and was a diehard fan of the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. He also shared his passion for music, including Bob Segar and Alan Jackson with anyone that would listen.

Joe was a generous person and loved to work with his hands, always going out of his way to help those in need. He took great pride in the things that he made and did. At home, Joe loved spending time with his family, especially his loving wife, children and grandchildren.

In May of 2008 Joe was married to his true love, wife Tina (Schaaf) Greis who survives him. He is also survived by his daughter Britni (Aaron) Garlits of Nashville, TN and son, Jt Greis of Camby, IN. Two stepdaughters, Mercedes Schaaf of Westfield, IN and Lexus Hileman of Peru, IN. Step son Colt Hileman of Peru, IN and three Grandchildren, Ayden, Natalie and Aria of Westfield, IN. He is also survived by his father, one sister, six brothers, two aunts and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Greis and “Granddog” Harley.
