Bruce Runions Obituary

Bruce Nelson Runions, 66, Peru IN 

Passed into Jesus’ loving arms on November 18, 2019, at Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, 

Fort Wayne IN. He was born in Gallatin, TN to the late William and Hattie(Crafton) Runions. 

Nelson graduated in 1971 from Lake County High School Tiptonville, TN. 

During his adventures years, he worked many different jobs in Tennessee and Indiana. 

He later became a truck driver and due to health issues, he retired. Nelson enjoyed playing pool 

and was a very talented competitor. He also was very talented with yo-yo tricks and liked 

teaching them to his family. He always had a story to tell about his experiences and enjoyed 

sharing them with his friends and family. While living in Tennessee he attended Midway Baptist 

Church in Hickman, KY. 

During many personal struggles and hardships, he learned what being saved by God’s 

grace truly meant. He had a renewed love for Christ. He rededicated his life to Jesus Christ and 

was baptized on August 27, 2017, by Pastor Tom Robbins at Saylor’s Pond in Peru, IN. He 

attended Church at Chapel Ministries Outreach in Peru, IN where he met many new friends to 

share in the joy of worshiping the Lord. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Charles Runions, a grandson Christian 

Runions, sisters-in-law, Nancy Runions, Jean Runions, and Fay Runions, brothers-in-law, Shelby 

Reynolds and Bill Holler. 

Nelson is survived by sons Tim Runions, Dyersburg, TN, Kevin(Michelle) Runions, 

South Fulton TN, Jody(Callie) Gray Union City, TN. Grandchildren, Georgette Simard, Garrett 

Runions, Lydia Runions, Maya Runions, and Hanner Gray. Siblings, Jim(Betty) Runions, 

Bruceton, TN, Doug Runions, Tiptonville, TN, Norma Reynolds, Tiptonville, TN, Virginia 

Holler, Peru, IN. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

A memorial celebration of Nelson’s life will be held at First Baptist Church in 

Tiptonville, TN on November 30th at 11 am. The tentative gravesite service will be announced 

during the memorial service. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Riverview Funeral Home.
