Benjamin F. Alexander, also known as Ben or “Lawnmower Man”, 77 of Peru passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 1:15 p.m., surrounded by family.
He was born August 9, 1943 in Kokomo Indiana to the late Ward and Mildred (Jones) Alexander.
Ben worked many places over his 77 years including Freeman’s, the Court house and the Miami County Softball Diamonds. He also mowed and shoveled snow. If he wasn’t as home, he was out on his bright orange riding mower, looking for new customers.
He was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly Nethercutt of Peru and Diana Heath (Earl) of Peru, 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Pallbearers serving are Daniel McNear (Heather), TJ Moore, Harley Sparks (Abby Sparks), Aaron Nethercutt (Danielle), Kristin Bowman, Brittany Moore.
He was also preceded in death by sister, Mary Howard, brother, Jack Alexander and his wife Evelyn, and his longtime girlfriend, Karen Porter.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at Riverview Funeral Home, 421 W. Canal St., Peru.
Services will be at 6:00 p.m. following the visitation. Pastor Tim Prater will officiate.
