Vivian (Sparks) Townsend, 88, of Peru, IN, passed away on October 6, 2023, at The Waters of Peru. She was born on June 17, 1935, in Patsey, KY, to the late Buddie Sparks and Nannie (Rodgers) Sparks. Vivian later met and married her husband, George Townsend, and they enjoyed many years by each other’s sides. Vivian also had many joys in life, she was a devoted member of Zion Chapel Church and loved her church family. She also enjoyed cooking meals for her family, fishing, and camping trips. However, her greatest joy in life was the time she spent with her family, who will all miss her very much.
Vivian is survived by her son, Jack (Darleen) Harding; stepdaughter, Anita Flitcraft; son-in-law, Ron Musall; sisters, Phyllis Scott and Inita Clemons of Peru; grandchildren Janel Harding and Amy (Daniel) Chilcutt; her three great-grandchildren, Macy Chilcutt, Emry Chilcutt, and Marley Harding; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Townsend; daughter, Frieda Musall; and sisters, Boots Williams, Ivory Willis, Ruth Caldwell, Yvonne Ritchie, and Mary Smith; brothers, Woody Sparks, Donny Sparks, and Delmar Sparks.
Services for Vivian will be held, Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at 4:30 PM at Zion Chapel Church, 915 S. Broadway, Peru, IN, 46970. Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM until the time of service. Burial to follow services at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Chapel Church, which Vivian loved so much.
