God escorted our angel home on June 7th, 2023.
Lynda Faye Hillman was born on March 2nd, 1950 to Barney Jernegan and Bettie (Allen) Hinton in Nettleton, Mississippi. She married Webster Hillman on April 28th, 1990.
Lynda graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelors of Science in Social Work. She was a homemaker for her life.
She loved reading and cherished spending time with her family. She loved to just get in the car and ride and get her a drink. Lynda was a sweet, loving soul with a gentle spirit who never met a stranger. She made a lasting impression on every single person that she met. She was the life of the party and always had a smile on her face. She loved to sing and was a member of her church choir, the District Choir, the Reflecting Lights and often in the quiet times would be found humming gospel songs. Lynda served as superintendent of Sunday School at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved going out to eat. Lynda was a faithful member of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church in Peru, IN. Under the leadership of Pastor E.J. Lacy.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Bettie R. Hinton and her father, Barney Jernegan.
Lynda Hillman lives on through her loving husband, Webster Louis Hillman, her children; Amecia Montgomery Roberts (daughter), Gareth Roberts (son in-law), and Dan Hillman [Susie] (son), her siblings; Juawana Hinton (sister), Jeff Hinton [Kiara] (brother), Jane Hutchinson (sister), Cecil “Ray” Kersey (brother), aunts; Pearl Sanders, Henrietta Lee, Pearl Allen, and Shirley Dilworth, nieces and nephews; Jasmyn Hinton (niece), Shayona McKinney [Aaron] (niece), Ronneka Hinton (niece), Cheyenne (niece) Skylar Hinton (nephew), along with a host of family and special friends; the Rucker Sisters, Sister Of The Yams (SOTY), and bonus children.
Lynda was a kind soul and was truly loved by everyone that she met.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her Senior Helper Workers; Tricia Majors, Donna Cook, Rhonda Frontini, and Tami Richardson and to the clinical team at Lutheran Hospital and the Waters of Peru.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 17th, 2023 from 12pm-1pm at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, with funeral services proceeding the visitation at 1pm at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor E.J. Lacy officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow the funeral services at River View Funeral and Event Center, 421 West Canal Street, Peru, IN. 46970.
