Lanny Glen Bell

July 25, 1949 — February 10, 2026

Peru

Lanny Glen Bell was born in Indianapolis Indiana in 1949. He was adopted by Glen and Mary Bell, two of the finest people on earth. After being widowed Mary married B. Douglas Gross where their family increased to 4 step siblings Deborah Grimes, Becky Barker, Peggy Penfold, and Scott Gross

Lanny celebrated July 25 as his birthday for 68 years. Then on April 2, 2016 through 23 and me he learned he had a sister Gayle Johnson. It was Gayle that informed him he was really born June 25 not July 25. Gayle and her husband Gary drove to Peru from Michigan for their sweet reunion. The next visit included their sons James Johnson (Cape Coral FL) and Gary Johnson (Louisville KY).

Lanny served his country in the US Army. He attended Mexico Elementary and North Miami Jr/Sr High school graduating in 1968. He worked at Square D and Bryan Steam while living in Peru. Lanny was full of personality and loved to joke around. He would talk of trying marriage 4 times and never getting it right having 4 ex wives.

His only child was with Cynthia (Bunnell). Daughter Katina Everding (Chuck) resides in Peru. His only grandson Devin (Heidi) Bradfield reside in Colorado Springs.

Lanny left Indiana to live in Arizona for about 20 years. During that time he earned his degree in Dental Technology and had his own dental lab. It was while in Arizona he met and married Marty "the love of my life" even after divorce they remained as close friends.

Lanny later returned to Peru and lived at Eastwood Place as he referred to it as "the wrinkle ranch" from 2012-2025. Lanny enjoyed playing guitar and making music in his early years. He spent his elder years watching You Tube and spending time with friends at the "wrinkle ranch" and Area 5 Senior Center.

Lanny was known to many as "lefty or lucky." He would joke he had 9 lives after surviving a parachuting accident, motorcycle accident, serious head on collision caused by a drunk driver and being shot while trying to protect a friend. He finally found his way to heaven after suffering a heart attack at Blair Ridge Nursing home on February 10, 2026. Lanny was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Glen, step father B. Douglas Gross, his sister Gayle and her husband Gary. He is survived by daughter Katina (Chuck) Everding, grandson Devin (Heidi) Bradfield, nephews Gary Johnson, Jim Johnson, step siblings Deborah, Peggy, Becky, Scott and their children, and many friends.

In honoring Lanny's last request a celebration of life will be held at a later date "I want a party not a funeral.”

The family of Lanny would like to thank Blair Ridge Health Campus for their wonderful care.
