James Travis Brooks

James “Travis” Brooks, 53, of Peru, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday,

September 15, 2026.

Born on January 18, 1973, in Peru, Travis was the son of David and Sharon (Angel) Brooks. He

was a 1991 graduate of Maconaquah High School. On July 7, 1997, he married the love of his

life, Michelle Kingery, with whom he shared 29 wonderful years.

Travis loved to collect bicycles and was a true SAAB vehicle enthusiast. He could fix just about

anything and everything. He spent his time working on cars and bikes and loved to spend time

at the lake. Above all, he treasured the time spent with his family, friends, and his beloved dogs,

Hammer and Zeus.

He is survived by his cherished mother, Sharon Brooks; his loving wife, Michelle Brooks; his

beloved daughters, Tabby Brooks and Nora Brooks; his brother, Tracy (Dawn) Brooks; his sister,

Trina (Marty) Marlatt, his mother-in-law, Deloris Kingery; his nephews Zach Brooks and Zane

(Sarah) Brooks; his niece, Tilly Marlatt; and his nephew, Dusty Marlatt.

Travis was preceded in death by his father, David Brooks, and his father-in-law, Fred Kingery.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 - 7 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Travis and

Michelle’s home, 5 German St., Peru.
