Dora Jean Gipson

Dora Jean Gipson, 84 of Peru passed away peacefully and went to be with her Lord, Jesus on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne surrounded by her daughter, Diane.

Dora was a Peru High School graduate. On October 1, 1965 she married Kenneth E. Gipson. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2021.

She worked at Grissom Air Force Base for over 30 years.

Dora is survived by her daughter, Diane Cole of Peru, sons, Matt Gipson (Susan) of Chili and Jon Gipson (Amy), 10 grandchildren including her special helpers, Katie Cole and Nicole Cole, 16 great grandchildren and special helpers, Bobby Chafini, brother-in-law, Kevin Gipson (Norma).

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Emma (Bell) Hammett and brother, Robert Hammett.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 18, 2026 at the V.F.W. Post 2067, 151 E. Washington Ave., Peru.
