Carol (Sinclair) Kimpel

It is with sadness we announce the passing of Carol (Sinclair) Kimpel. A former resident of Peru and Plymouth, Indiana she succumbed to a lengthy illness while residing at Harbour Manor long term care facility in Noblesville, Indiana on October 20, 2025. Carol was born on December 8, 1946, in Wooster, Ohio to Orlo and Dorothy Sinclair who preceded her in death. Carol was a graduate of Smithville, Ohio High school. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Kent Kimpel of Noblesville, whom she married on May 31, 1970 at Paradise Church of the Brethren in Smithville OH. Additionally, she is survived her daughters Jennifer Dewitt (husband Steve), Lisa Kimpel, (husband Chris), grandsons Jacob, Jackson, and Matthew Dewitt. Also surviving are brothers Lyn (Joan) Sinclair and Wendell (Ivory) Sinclair and sisters Sandra (Wayne) Hostetler, and Linda Steiner all of Ohio as well as her special sister-in-law Beverly (Robert) Grandstaff of Florida. She was preceded in death by her sister Janet Green, and brother in laws Ray Green and Wayne Steiner also of Ohio.

Carol worked as a secretary to the personnel manager of Square D in Peru. Following her retirement, she became a full-time mom and daughter putting her family first—serving as chauffer, room mother, hostess for parties and cookie baker extraordinaire. Carol was devoted to her family and made numerous to Ohio to visit her parents as they aged, while also sneaking in time for one of her favorite things, Amish country Swiss Cheese. She loved weekend and summer visits from her three grandsons and always found time for videogames, movies, and marshmallow peeps. Carol also served as president of the Miami County Democrat Ladies Club. She loved euchre, shopping, and travel with special fondness for the Smoky Mountains. Carol was a member of the Plymouth Church of the Brethren.

A celebration of Carol’s life will be held on Saturday, November 15th, 2025, from 1pm until 4 pm, located at Riverview Funeral Home, 421 West Canal Street, Peru.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions honoring the life of Carol may be made out to either Arc of Indiana or Alzheimer’s Association.

Carol’s family would like to extend thanks to the caring staff of Harbour Manor and Guardian Angel Hospice who attended to her with grace and love, especially aide Jen Caldwell.
