Carol Butzin

Carol L (Shepler) Butzin, 99, of Peru, passed away peacefully at Blair Ridge Health Campus in Peru, on Monday, January 19, 2026. Carol was born on October 21, 1926, in Onward, Indiana, to the late Russell and Della (Hopper) Shepler.

Carol married the love of her life Otto G. Butzin, who preceded her in death on October 12, 1996.

Carol was a 1944 graduate of Onward High School. Carol was a homemaker where she helped raise her loving family.

In her free time Carol enjoyed playing cards and puzzling. She had a passion for her flowers and enjoyed gardening. She also enjoyed sewing. Her most cherished past time was spent with her family, and especially her grandchildren.

Surviving Carol include her daughter; Cynde (Martin) Lees, grandchildren; Benjamin Butzin- Dozier, Zachary Butzin- Dozier, Drew Lees, and a great-grandchild; Alexis Lees.

Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband; Otto Butzin, a son; Clifford A. “Cliff” Butzin, grandson; Deryck Lees, and 6 siblings.

Cremation has been entrusted with Riverview Funeral Home. A graveside service honoring the life of Carol will be held at a later date, at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Peru.
