Brent Lowe Bartholomew passed away on April 30, 2025 at his home in West Lafayette, Indiana with his wife, Tammy, at his bedside. Brent referred to her as his “angel”, and she was with him to the end of his almost 2 year battle with cancer.

Brent Bartholomew was born on May 22, 1952 in Peru, Indiana to Orla Bartholomew and Oneida Lowe Bartholomew. Brent’s father, a world was 1 veteran, died when Brent was in the 7th grade, and his living mother raised him on her own. He had three older sisters, Carol, Carol Lee, and Janice who all preceded him in death. Brent also had 21 nieces and nephews.

Brent and his wife Tammy Godfroy, were both 1971 Peru High School graduates. They met up again at their 50th high school reunion. Brent and Tammy were married on June 23, 2023, and they were able to travel and share many memories together before he became ill.

Brent served in the United States Army from 1972-1975. He earned two degrees from Purdue University. He received a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction and Contracting and his Master’s degree in in Construction Management and Civil Engineering.

Brent held positions during his career as a facility Engineer in Healthcare for Ball Hospital in Muncie, Indiana for 11 years, and then as National Health Inspector inspecting different hospitals in various states. He continued to work as a consultant to hospitals and healthcare facilities after 2018.

Brent’s interests and hobbies during his lifetime included skiing, trap shooting and shooting competitions with is wife, Tammy. He was a loyal fan of Purdue University and basketball, holding season tickets for over 20 years. Brent also followed the Indianapolis 500, attending the races for over 25 years.

Brent and Tammy attended faith Church in West Lafayette.

Brent was diagnosed with cancer on June 5, 2023, and he fought bravely against his illness as long as he could. He has asked that any memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.

A celebration of life for Brent Lowe Bartholomew will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at 2 pm, with Pastor Aaron Birk officiating, located at Riverview Funeral Home, 421 West Canal Street, Peru. Friends may visit with the family from 12 noon until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Chili Cemetery where Military Rites will be performed.
