Betty "Kay" (Alspach) Richardson

Betty “Kay” (Alspach) Richardson, 86, of Peru, passed away peacefully at home on September 15, 2025. Kay was born on November 27, 1938, to the late Allen H. and Lois Alspach, in Peru.

Kay was a 1956 graduate of Peru High School. She worked at Senger Dry Good’s beginning her junior year of high school. Later in 1960 she married James Richardson, who preceded her in death on January 9th, 1984. After raising her children, she worked at Peru School Corporation for 21 years where she then retired from.

In her free time Kay enjoyed bird watching, painting, and especially her cats. Her most cherished past time was spent with her loving family, and especially her grandchildren and attending their games.

Surviving Kay include her children; Jeff (Lisa) Richardson, Jon Richardson, Jay (Heather) Richardson, sister; Sue Miller, grandchildren; Matt, Michael, Jaelin, Lani, Liz, Alex, great-grandchildren; Jarrett, Summer, Autumn, Mason, Chloe, Dylan, Logan, Sean, David, Ellie, Mackey. Extended family; Jon (Janet) Hayes, Paul Hayes, Raschell, DJ. Portia (Bill) McWhorter. And Special friend Teri (Chuck) Clark.

Kay was preceded in death by husband; James Richardson, significant other (Porter Hayes) grandson; Chandler Richardson, sister; Allene Shropshire, Pat Waters, Rosie Cunningham, brothers; Robert Alspach, Bernie (Alice) Dillers.

A celebration honoring the life of Kay will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, located at Riverview Funeral Home, 421 West Canal Street, Peru. Friends may visit with the family from 12-4 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Scratching Post Cat Rescue.
