Gerri Marie (Olson) Mavrick

Gerri Marie (Olson) Mavrick, 63, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2018. Gerri was born on March 15, 1955 in Escanaba, Michigan to Raymond L. and Patricia A. (Ammel) Olson. Gerri was one of nine children.              

Gerri graduated from Peru High School in 1973 and in 1975 married her best friend, Michael A. Mavrick, who survives.

Gerri had worked for Kroger and DeAngelo’s but her favorite job was that of mother and grandmother. Gerri also enjoyed music, animals, knitting, crocheting, cooking, sewing, working outside, and being with her family.

Gerri was a fun loving and generous person. She never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone. She loved making people laugh and would often be the life of the party. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Gerri is survived by her husband; Michael, daughter; Sarah Mavrick, son; Matthew (Natalie) Mavrick, grandchildren, Ava and Alivia and special girl Jerzi. Gerri is also survived by four sisters; Patricia-Cookie Whybrew, Sharon (Bill) Shuey, Janice (Nathan) Gardener, and Edith-Dede (Jay) Scragg, two brothers; Mark Olson and John Olson, two sister-in-laws; Diana Olson and Peggy Olson. She is loved by numerous nieces and nephews and several great-Nieces and nephews.

Gerri was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father-in-law, Paul and Marge Mavrick, brothers; Craig J. Olson and Brian A. Olson and brother-in-laws; Charles F. Whybrew, Samuel Mavrick and Thomas Mavrick.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 7, 2018 from 4-7pm at Riverview Funeral Home, 421 W. Canal St. Peru. Friends and family may leave condolences online at www.riverviewfhperu.com
