Susan M McConnaghy

Susan M. McConnaghy, 57, Peru, IN. passed away on March 12, 2017 at Lutheran Hospital – Fort Wayne.

                She was born September 24, 1959 in Staten Island, NY. to the late Francis M. McConnaghy and Helen J. Fewlass. She was raised in Traverse City, Michigan and later in Niagara Falls, New York. She was a 1977 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School in Niagara Falls. On October 19, 1977 she enlisted in the United States Air Force in Buffalo, New York and was honorably discharged from active duty in Charleston, SC. on July 18, 1983. After her active duty she joined the Air Force Reserve and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant after completing over 20 years of service and continued her employment as a civil servant at Grissom ARB.

                She enjoyed fishing, puzzles, arts and crafts and Dr. Who. She also enjoyed spending time with her Sigma Phi Gamma International Sorority, Alpha Mu Chapter sorority sisters, where they would do community service projects.

                She is survived by her son, Alex McConnaghy and fiancé Torrey, Peru; daughter, Sara McConnaghy, Kokomo; two brothers, Robert (Jacque) McConnaghy, Skaneateles, NY. and David (Lisa) McConnaghy, Manistique, Mich; one sister, Julie (Paul) Figel, Midland, TX; along with several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

                A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, 2017 with visitation at 11am and the service to follow at 1pm at Riverview Funeral Home with Air Force Chaplain Obadiah Smith. Inurnment will be at Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County with Military Honors being performed. In lieu of flowers, friends may make memorial donations to the family to help offset medical expenses.
