Shirley Jean "Jane" (Chittum) Wells

Shirley J. Wells (Chittum), 87, of Peru IN. passed away on Friday morning Jan. 19, 2018 at Dukes Memorial Hospital. She was born in Peru on May 26, 1930, the daughter of C.R. and Stella Chittum. She married Robert A. Wells on Aug. 29, 1948. He preceded her in death in 2012 after 64 years of marriage. She graduated from Peru High School in 1947. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church.

She retired from Wabash Valley Bank in 1993. She was active in her church, Peru Civic Center and Dukes Hospital Auxiliary. She loved her yard and flowers and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by one brother; Billy H. Chittum of Ft. Wayne, IN., six daughters; Vicki (Don) Keller, Kathy Wells, Kim Weeks, Nancy Hewes, Beth (Chris) Brown and Jan (Johnny) Bell, grandchildren; Michelle Platter, Alissa (Joel) Williford, Kraig (Caesar Villanueva) Keller, Angie Weeks (Ramone Davis), Abby (James) Tocorzic, Daniel (Christine) Weeks, Jordan (Simone) Stone, Mallory (Bradley) Taylor, Laura (Adam) Hoffman, Patrick (Sydney) Comerford, Kyle Comerford, Logan Hewes and Lacey Hewes, great-grandchildren; Kearstynn (Josh) Johnson, Jacoby Sanders, Makenzie Sanders, Lexie Crews, Lane Weeks, Lydia Weeks, Jayden Tororzic, Jenna Tocorzic, Charlie Taylor, Stella Taylor and Katie Hoffman, one niece; Sibil (Floyd) Deaton, nephews; Ted “Clay” (Jan) Chittum, Brad (Sandy) Chittum and Ceth Chittum, along with several relatives in Virginia.

She was preceded in death by husband, Robert and brothers Ted, Jack ad Mike Chittum.

There will be a private family service at a later date. There will be no public visitation.
