Robert A Radel

Robert A. Radel, 93, of Peru, passed away peacefully at Millers Merry Manor, Peru on August 19, 2017. Mr. Radel was born on February 1, 1924 in Miami County to the late Andrew and Taevilla (Laudenschlager) Radel. On June 9, 1944 he married Josephine Wheeler and she preceded him on August 2, 2006.   

He was a graduate of Peru High School in 1942. He was a lifelong Miami County farmer, he also worked for Dunn’s Arco for 30 plus years before retiring and purchasing Main Street Liquors. He was active in the Ole Olson Theater for 30 plus years and served as the President and mostly Treasurer. He was a lifetime member of the K of C and served as a Grand Knight in the 1960’s.

He is survived by sons, Robert A. (Kay) Radel, Peru and Roger A. (Jo) Radel, Peru; daughters, Mary Jo Brock, Indianapolis and Anita (Annie) Wilson, Indianapolis; grandchildren, Missy (John) Conner, Andy (Debbie) Radel, Angela (Dan) Tharp, Patrick Brock, significant other Heather Seaborne,  Gretchen (Alex) Billmeier, Mathew Wilson, Tara (Tyler) Beas. Aime (Kory) Black and Adam Radel, significant other Samantha Carpenter; 11 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.  

He was preceded by his parents, wife and sister, Mary Mae (Radel) Orvitz.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, August, 23 2017 at 1 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Clark officiating. Burial will be at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Peru. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Memorial donations can be made to Ole Olson or St. Vincent DePaul.
