Ollie Ann Lawson

September 7, 1935 ~ April 28, 2017 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Ollie Ann Lawson, 81 of Kokomo, passed away at Community Howard Hospital on Friday, April 28, 2017. She is the daughter of the late Lloyd and Irene (Murphy) Sparling. In the spring of 1953 she married Willie Joe Phillips and he preceded her in death in 1960. She later married Gerald Lawson in 1961 and he preceded her in death in October of 1989.

            Ollie was born and raised in Howard county. She was a familiar face at several local Kokomo restaurants including the Lighthouse, the Hob Knob, Dukes, Fitz’s Lounge and Doc’s where she worked for 40 years retiring in the 2006. She also really enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crossword puzzles, pacman, tv , her little dog Corbitt and especially loved going to church.

            Ollie is survived by two daughters; Sherry Rogers, Peru; Penny (Jeff) Ford, Kokomo; one son; Cary Lawson, Kokomo; four sisters; Mabel (Vern) Lea, Sharon Diceston, Barbara (Jerry) St. Clair, Beverly (Terry) Fouts and one brother; Theodore (Pat) Sparling; two stepsons; Gerald Lawson Jr and Dino Lawson; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

            Ollie was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, one son; Gregory Phillips.

            Funeral services will be held at Glad Tidings Assembly of God, 388 W. 7th St. Peru on Monday, May 1, 2017 at 2:00pm with Pastor Bryan Maggart officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to help offset final expenses.
